Hi, gang! This site is currently under construction. Please be patient with me as I learn HTML and CSS to get this site up to scratch. If you need to contact me, my e-mail is leo.amadeus.scott@gmail.com. I keep notifications on.
Private Teaching with Leo Amadeus
I love teaching. There, I said it! And I think it is so important that there are inclusive pathways to learning anything. With my teaching, I intend to provide lessons for everyone, no matter their learning style or knowledge/ability.
While mainly I teach music, I do have some skills in other areas, and I am not opposed to teaching other skills such as acting or video editing, etc.
Rates
For most subjects I charge $90 an hour for a lesson (or $45 for half an hour, etc.). I teach during the school terms, and depending on my availability I can do holiday lessons, too.
This can be paid in advance of the lesson:
- At the start of every term
- Twice a Term (in Week 1, then Week 5)
- Monthly
- Fortnightly
- Weekly
Or, I can take payment at the lesson, but with an additional $5 fee. I need that security!
Certifications and Inclusivity
I have a valid Working with Vulnerable People Card, and a valid police check. I am committed to the safety of my students and will provide all documentation upon request.
My lessons are also a safe space for neurodivergent people and LGBTQI+ people! I fall under both those umbrellas myself, and have worked in the arts for many years, where there is a high percentage of people who identify as neurodiverse or queer. I will do my best to accommodate all students.
Location
At the moment, I live in Chisholm, Tuggeranong - which is quite out of the way for most people. I am thinking about hiring a room at the Downer Community Centre, which for regular bookings is $13/hr. I have not yet confirmed that this will be available. If I am able to secure it, the price will be included in the lessons ($6.50 for 30mins).
Lesson Cancellation Policy
People get sick. Things arise. Lesson cancellation is frustrating - for everyone! As I mostly take payments in advance of lessons, it would be unfair to just completely cancel the lesson with no alternative. You can cancel the lesson by texting me directly (my phone number will be provided to you when you enrol), e-mailing me through the contact form or through the enroller portal once I get the system set up.
If the lesson is cancelled more than 48 hours in advance, here is what I can do:
- I can provide a full refund for the lesson.
- You can get a credit, which can be used to reschedule the lesson, or do a double-lesson.
- I can provide a short video lesson and send you a link to download it.
If the lesson is cancelled between 48 hours and 2 hours before the lesson:
- I can provide a "take home lesson" (a sheet with things to focus on until our next class).
- I can provide a 25% refund.
- You can get a half-credit (two half-credits can be used for a make-up lesson).
Unfortunately, if you cancel the lesson 2 hours beforehand or forget to tell me, then I cannot provide a refund or an alternative for your lesson.
If I cancel a lesson:
In a similar vein, If I give you less than 48 hours notice that a lesson is cancelled, then I am very happy to provide a credit or a refund. If I give more than 48 hours notice then I will try to reschedule your lesson for another day or give you a credit. I won't provide refunds if I give more than 48 hours notice.
Tardiness Policy
I am committed to providing as much of my pre-booked services as possible. If you run up to 5 minutes late, then I will still provide the full amount of time for your lessons. However, beyond 5 minutes I can only provide the length of the lesson from its start time plus 5 minutes. For example, say you have a 30 minute class starting at 4:00PM and you arrive at 4:10PM. Because I want to give my next student their full lesson if possible, I will only take you until 4:35, so that with my next student I will not run late, and the next one, and so forth.
If I am running late (either because of external circumstances or previous students pushing the start time of lessons) then I will still provide the full lesson time. For example, if I finish a half-hour lesson at 4:35, then I will start the next lesson at 4:35 and finish it half-an hour after that (at 5:05). I know this can seem a bit confusing, and I'm realising that writing it out...the point is, people run late (myself included) and I will try my best to provide services fairly to all students.
Concert
Once I am set up with enough students, I will be hosting end of term or end of semester concerts. Participating comes at no extra cost to the student, but tickets will have a small fee to cover venue hire, and confectionary will be sold.
As a bonus, any student of mine and their enrollers will be able to pay for discounted tickets for any performances that I organise as part of Amadeus Productions. This does not apply for concerts and performances that I am not the producer for, nor does it apply for student concerts.
