I got a job working as a casual sales member of T2. Huzzah! Finally I can earn some extra money while indulging in drinking exotically flavoured tea every day that I work there.

Tea and Coffee

By Leo Amadeus, 30/09/2024

Now, I know what you’re thinking. You’re thinking, “Can I exploit your staff member discount to get tea at cheaper prices?”. The answer? I don’t think so. As much as I would love to support my friends and family in their tea obsessions and addictions, the company policy forbids it.

Something else that surprised me was that the drinking of coffee is banned on T2 premises. It makes total sense – coffee is tea’s foremost competitor in the world of hot beverages – but for it to be banned completely was a small surprise. Good on them for preventing any turf wars. T2 is tea turf.

I love both tea and coffee, but for different reasons. Saying that makes me realise that most people who love both tea and coffee love it for different reasons. I love tea because it’s got a nice flavour, has a nice aesthetic when you drink it and comes in so many different varieties. I love coffee because I forced my brain to like it when I was very young and now sometimes when I don’t have coffee I can get minor headaches and impeded brain function and oh my God I’m addicted to coffee. And also I like mochas. But to be honest, I only started having mochas because CallMeKevin, an Irish YouTuber, was always going on about how good they are in his Media Share streams. But I only started having tea because my parents are avid tea drinkers.

The different kinds of tea far exceed the types of coffee, which objectively makes tea more exciting. I think. There are four main types of coffee beans, whereas there are over three thousand types of tea leaves. I have barely tapped into more than ten tea flavours, and so this is something that I intend to improve on in my temporary T2 employment. I hope to become a T-connoisseur: My favourite kind of dinosaur.

I tried French Earl Grey the other day at my church. It was quite a delightful tea – very flowery with a hint of vanilla. I’m also a big fan of Yorkshire breakfast. Especially if I do a Yorkshire accent while drinking it. I hope that isn’t considered appropriation today.
